Sophie Ewan-Roberts

Hi, I’m Sophie Ewan-Roberts

I have been working for the council in Shropshire since 2002. I started out working in the library service and gained experience in several different roles and departments before taking up my current role as the Digital Experience and Strategy Coordinator. When not in work I can be found curled up with my cats reading anything and everything (except detective novels) or baking cakes (which make an occasional appearance on Project WIP’s Twitter).

Experience:

After working in my local library and the reference library in Shrewsbury I moved from organising physical information (books) to digital information, in the form of the Community Directory. From there I moved to a position in Children and Young Peoples’ Services maintaining and developing the web presence of the various services within the directorate. A move from there to the web team meant joining my current Project WIP colleagues where I’ve had the opportunity to expand my knowledge of front end development and put my background studying psychology to good use in User Experience design (unofficial job title - Psychological Sorcerer, hence the wand!).

Skills:

  • User Experience design process
  • Training
  • Project management
  • Wordpress development
  • Umbraco development (Level 1 Certified)

Projects worked on:

  • Connecting Shropshire dataroom
  • Replacement Shropshire Learning Gateway
  • Policy/contract documentation
