Project WIP reloaded

After a short hiatus, we are happy to relaunch the Project WIP blog as part of the Shropshire ICT website.

This is a return "home" for the blog in some ways, as it was originally created for the old IT Development service, which consisted of a number of specialist teams in the wider ICT department who wished to share their experiences and hopefully help others with their work.  It was groundbreaking at the time, and, as the council evolved and ICT was restructured, the ownership of the blog moved on, coming under the Digital Services team for the last few years before they moved back under the ICT umbrella.

What prompted the move for the Project WIP blog was the need to review the hosting servers (which were due to be decommissioned), coupled with a desire for the ICT service as a whole to once again be more open, and work more collaboratively with others in the public and private sectors.

The old Project WIP site ran on WordPress, which, though a fine platform for running a blog, wasn't our preferred CMS of choice (which is Umbraco). As we also had an existing Shropshire ICT website running in Umbraco, we decided that we could kill two birds with one stone, and so we started work to migrate the content of Project WIP over as a "back-burner" project.

What you see here is - at this time - a bit rough around the edges. We're still looking at improving the design, and we are working our way through our older posts to pick up any broken links that may have come about from the migration.

That being said, we've got a lot of great content lined up, and you will see a lot of new names and faces appearing on upcoming blogs.

As always, we are open to feedback (please be gentle!), so drop us an email to web.team@shropshire.gov.uk!
