IT Security

Technology continues to move at a dazzling pace, transforming the ways in which people live, work, and learn for the better, but it’s not without its risks. The UK remains in a heightened state of cyber threat, the education sector in particular has been subjected to increased targeting by ransomware and the recent attack in Herefordshire has demonstrated why it is so important to be thinking about your cyber security. All organisations increasingly depend heavily on IT and online services, hold large amounts of sensitive personal data on pupils, parents, and staff, all of which needs to be kept safe and secure. A cyber security incident can affect your organisations ability to function, the security of your data and your reputation. For schools, not only does this threaten children's education, and safety, it can be really frightening for schools and can distract teachers from doing their jobs.

Security

It is now more vital than ever that you choose trusted partners with the necessary skillsets for your services. You need to know who your suppliers are and understand the maturity and effectiveness of your suppliers’ security arrangements. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has released guidance on supply chain security for schools and this should be followed when choosing who to work with.

We also offer Security briefing sessions and if you would be interested in being notified about these in the future, please let us know.  For those of you who attended our recent session - Thank you - and if you would like further information about what we have on offer or would like to discuss anything, please contact us via ShropshireICT@Shropshire.gov.uk and our School Business partner will be in touch.
