Following a lot of questions over social media, and from meeting others at various public sector events, we have put together another free - yes, FREE - "Umbraco in Local Government" event for the afternoon of Thursday 9th October.
As all the tickets were snatched up for last year's event, we decided to book a bigger room (the Council Chamber!), and invite even more of you come and listen to some great speakers and get to know other like-minded people. We weren't sure if this would get the same buzz from the community as before, so decided to make the tickets available through EventBrite to gauge the response before confirming details.
Our fears were unfounded, as reassuringly a huge chunk of the tickets have been taken up by very enthusiastic people, so now it's time to spill the beans on what we've got lined up...
The agenda
- 13:00 Welcome and introduction
- 13:05 How we came to choose Umbraco – Tom Styles, Nottinghamshire County Council
- 13:50 Using uSync – Kevin Jump, Jumoo
- 14:35 Umbraco training/Umbraco As A Service – Marc Goodson, Moriyama
- 15:20 LocalGovDigital, Umbraco and more – Phil Rumens
- 16:05 Open Q&A
- 16:30 Close and thank you, followed by informal networking session
The topics are lined up based on the most common questions raised via Twitter, emails and site visits, such as "Why did you go down the Umbraco route?" (Tom Styles will tell us how Nottinghamshire County Council made the choice), "How do you manage your dev/staging/live environments?" (Kevin Jump will be explaining how uSync works), "Is the official training worthwhile?" (yes, and Marc Goodson, one of the Level 2 trainers at Moriyama will show us why), and "If we start using Umbraco, can we share some of the things we've developed with you?" (Phil Rumens will explain how LocalGovDigital is here to help share our knowledge and resources between all councils).
As a special treat, Marc will also be giving us a demo of the upcoming Umbraco as a Service (UaaS), cloud solution - internet connection permitting!
Sweetening the deal...
I am aware that, for some of you, a trip to Shropshire is a long journey to undertake just for an afternoon, and you may be getting the usual "is it worth it?" questions from your managers. Don't worry, you're not alone.
We have already have a few people ask us if they could arrive early and spend some time with the Digital Services team here, so, if you are in the the same situation and would like to join in with this informal morning session, please drop a comment at the bottom of the article and we'll get back to you.
So what are you waiting for - get your free ticket now!
Still not sure? Read the review of last year's event, think about it a bit and come back if you want to... we'll wait for you :)
